Joanne Kelly put her own twist on a forgotten dresser, with a combination of strong colour and a vinyl print
“When I found this tallboy stashed away in the back of my grandmother’s loft in Galway, I couldn't believe my luck. I stripped away the old finish using methylated spirits and steel wool. Then it was a matter of removing the handles and applying the first undercoat. Once the undercoat was dry, I sanded it down using low grade sandpaper and applied a second undercoat.
The next step was to apply satin finish water-based paint, allowing it to dry before sanding it again and giving it a second coat. After leaving the paint to dry for a couple of days, I then applied a vinyl print to the front for a quirky effect. - Isn't 'contemporary' style, stark and cold?
- No, not at all. We think of our style of interior design as 'comfortable contemporary'. We like to make rooms vibrant, beautiful and exciting but we also keep in mind that people actually live in these rooms and thats where the comfortable part comes in.
- Do you do traditional style interiors?
- Absolutely. We give each project our all and make each project as individual as the clients who hire us.
