Hand Made Christmas!

We are feeling very Christmassy here in the office today, so what better to talk about than Christmas Decorations.

Growing up, my Mam always put myself and my brothers handmade Christmas decorations on the tree, no matter how dodgy looking they were! 🙂 I think that there is something really nice about using homemade decorations, and you don’t have to be a kid to make them.

Here are some of my favourite handmade pieces and some unconventional Christmas Decorations.

The Tree

Now, I think that it is probably tradition in every Irish home to have a large fir tree full to the gills with fairy lights, baubles and tinsel, but I think that there is something really beautiful about these alternative trees.

So, the lights go on the tree right? Well how about doing something a little bit different this year and create an over mantle feature or an amazing entrance hall. I absolutley love this hallway, super simple but really effective.

The Baubles

Baubles are a staple decoration for every home, but have you considered hanging them from the ceiling or creating a small scale tree from them. I think that this table setting with the hanging baubles is just gorgeous. A really great idea!

The Decorations

Probably one of the best things to make yourself are unconventional decorations. And the cool thing about these ones is that they are made from materials that most of us will have a home, from tin foil to cardboard, oh and doilies. How cool is the doilie garland? I think that it is so pretty.

The Wreath

Like most of you out there, I generally pop down to my local florist to get my Christmas Wreath, but I think I might give one of these amazing wreaths a go this year. I particularly love the one made from old Christmas cards. What a great way to use up last years cards?

Well I hope that I have inspired you to get creative with your Christmas decorations this year and if you have any other ideas, please send them into me at [email protected] and I will send them on.

Be Creative….
