Hey there!
With all our talk of the perfect colour schemes and new trends, we are going to give you some insight today into how to make your home Pinterest Perfect!!
For most of us out there, Pinterest is the go to place for inspiration, but sometimes it can leave you a bit depressed and green with envy. Well not anymore…..
Here are 10 ideas for you to embrace:
Embrace Colour
First it was beige and then it was greige. Well my friends, the day of grey’s and beige’s is ending and we are embracing colour again. Now between you and I, we never forgot about colour but many did!!! Now I am not saying that you can just through the rainbow at a room, stick to maybe 2 or 3 main colours and then work off that palette.
Wow with your WC
It is easy to see why people shy away from bold patterns or colours, but the one room in the house that you should never shy away from is the WC. In most houses, this tiny room is the one that nearly everyone will see including your guest, so why not give it the wow factor. So have a little fun with the room and choose bold wallpapers, crazy artwork or bold colours.
Your Kids Room should be Playful
When designing your kids room, you need to look at it from their perspective. This is their room and it needs to be fun and colourful, not just blue and pink. The furniture that you choose needs should be practical for their activities like reading or painting, but it should also have a fun element. So, select colourful furniture as opposed to plain, or create a fun piece of art on the wall with wall stickers or paint.
Make the Small Spaces Work
The one thing that we never have enough of is storage, so it is really important to put ever inch of your house or apartment to use. You should always consider unconventional spaces for uses, like creating a home office under the stairs or adding concealed storage along a corridor
.
Give Marble Its Moment
For the last year or so, marble has slowly been creaping into the the contemporary world of interiors, and it is easy to see why. This beautiful material, whether its Carrara, Calacatta or Danby is timeless and adds luxury and elegance to a space. I particularly love it when its mixed with bold colours
Make a Statement With Lighting
The impact that a light fitting can have can be really underestimated. Not only is it a functional piece but it can really add drama to a space. Consider adding an oversized pendant to a smaller room or if you are really brave, paint the ceiling a darker colour for real impact
Dazzle with your Drinks
Over the last number of years more and more us are opting to stay in and entertain at home. Even if you are not into happy hour, you’ve probably noticed that more of your friends are having cocktail parties. However, if this is your thing it makes sense to put a little thought into how you display your bottle and glasses.
Add a Pop
Adding a pop of colour to any room is the best way to take a room from just functional to exciting and fun. Now if you really want to make a statement consider one of the larger pieces of furniture, such as an emerald green sofa, but if this is too big a step for you then start with the accessories and go from there.
Wow With Wallpaper
Wallpaper is really back in business after taking a break for a decade or so and I’m delighted that it has. Wallpaper is one of the easiest ways to being colour, pattern and interest into a space. Now while I do think that the famous feature wall is coming to the end of its life, the right wallpaper can work well on just the one wall if you don’t want to cover all four walls.
I’ve totally been collecting these for 20 years
Collectibles can really vary and go in and out of fashion quite regularly. However, if you clever and selective about the pieces that you have on show then it can be timeless. Using flea markets, vintage stores and second hand stores, you can very quickly build up your collection, then display them en masse to create a “collection.”
So while some of these are larger projects than others, there are some great ones to get you on your way to being Pinterest Perfect!
